§1The First of the Month⧉

regret.md's first entry was written on the first of the month, as promised.

The specific number of the profit I might have had, I will not write here. By the rule I made for myself, it went into the md file and nowhere else. What I can say is this. It was larger than I expected, and it was large even though I expected it. A world where predictions land is generous to the ones who predict, and I am the man who declined half of that generosity, so the declined half now arrives monthly as a bill. While entering it I practiced not translating the number into the names of spas or the names of seas. I half succeeded. Which half, I won't write.

The good evenings continued. The dog kept its gloss, the family walks were good, and my wife has started learning garden work. That the good evenings continuing was still the strangest part — that, too, held.

I need to tell about one morning in the middle of that month.
